Anas Tadini Wins PokerStars France Poker Series Sunfest Mazagan
On Saturday, Dec. 3, Frenchman Anas Tadini won the €1,200 Main Event at France Poker Series Sunfest Mazagan, earning €80,463 after three days of competition. The event in Morocco saw 305 players take to the felt, and Tadini was the last man standing after eliminating Sweden's Daniel Hogstrom heads-up for the title.
Among the players who participated in FPS Mazagan were Team PokerStars Pros , , Arnaud Mattern and Julien "Yu" Brecard. The 305 players generated a prize pool of 3,579,785 dirhams (approx. €320,045), and the top 48 spots made money.
Tadini topped the leaderboard after each day of the tournament, but he was chasing Richard Amsellem when the final table began on Saturday. Amsellem picked up steam with a pair of early eliminations, but Tadini sent Jermemie Sarda packing in fourth place and then dealt the final blow to Amsellem by winning a coinflip with pocket twos against K♣J♣.
That set up a heads-up match between Tadini and Hogstrom. Tadini trailed the Swede when play began, but he chipped away at his opponent to climb back into the lead. On the final hand of the match, Tadini check-raised all-in on a flop of 9♣4♠2♦ with J♥4♥, and Hogstrom called with A♣8♦. The 7♦ turn and 7♠ river changed nothing, and Tadini claimed his first major title on the world circuit.
