Kamel Tir Wins France Poker Series High Roller in Deauville for €131,000
Season 10 of the European Poker Tour continues this week with 2014 PokerStars.fr EPT Deauville €5,300 Main Event in France, which the PokerNews Live Reporting Team is currently live reporting from. During this, other notable tournaments are concluding such as the France Poker Series (FPS) €1,000 Main Event, which we told you about yesterday, and the FPS €2,250 High Roller.
The latter tournament exceeded even the most optimistic expectations by attracting 303 players and creating a prize pool of €654,480. In fact, so many players turned out that the tournament had to be extended an extra day.
Among those who cashed were Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier (32nd - €4,500), Brazil’s Joao Baumgarten (28th - €5,100), Germany’s Robert Haigh (25th - €5,800), Canada’s Shayam Srinivasan (22nd - €6,400), UK’s Gareth Teatum (21st - €6,400), France’s Jean-Noel Thorel (20th - €7,070), Philippe Ktorza (16th - €8,050), and Mathew Frankland (12th - €10,100).
The final table was a global affair that included Belgium, Poland, Lebanon, Italy and the UK, but it would be one of the three Frenchman — Kamel Tir — that would walk away with the trophy and €131,000 first-place prize.
