Instinctym Wins the 888poker XL Spring Series Main Event ($65,608)

XL Spring Series
XL Spring Series

The 888poker XL Spring Series Main Event has crowned its champion and that champion is none other than "Instinctym." The Andorra-based grinder sat down at the nine-handed final table as the chip leader and while they did not keep hold of that lead throughout the finale, they finished with all the chips in play, which is what ultimately matters.

The tournament drew in 2,173 players including re-entries over several starting flights, which meant a $510,655 prize pool. Some 329 of those starters made it through to Day 2. Only nine of those players progressed to Day 3's final table.

The average stack sized was under 16 big blinds, so the pace of the final table was always going to be frantic. Indeed, this proved true with less then 90 minutes between the first cards being pitched and the champion being crowned.

"Tcheleee" was the first to fall, their short-stack shove with king-seven losing out to the dominating king-ten of "KostenBurguz." Almost immediately after "Tcheleee's" demise, "youler" lost a battle of the blinds with "makichinho" and was left with less than half a big blind; they busted during the next hand.

Seventh-place and the first five-figure prize went to "makichinho" wh called all-in with ace-trey of diamonds only to lose to the ten-eight of "KostenBerguz" who flopped trip eights and turned a full house.

Everything pointed towards "KostenBerguz" walking away with the title because they then eliminated "overbet13" when their ace-queen held against the lesser ace-seven. However, they failed to rein in their aggression, lost a couple of all-in confrontations, and ultimately finished in fifth when their queen-ten could not stay in front of the eight-seven of "Why_a_king."

"Why_a_King" committed their stack with the best hand, ace-king, but lost to the king-seven of the start-of-the-day chip leader "Instinctym." That hand proved to be the catalyst for "Instinctym" because they always looked like winning from that moment on.

They eliminated "iNFOsHOVE" with ace-ten versus pocket sevens to send the tournament into the heads-up stage. Once there, "Instinctym" and "alanchi" traded blows for a couple of hands before striking a deal to lessen the substantial pay-jump. Immediately after the deal, "Instinctym" doubled through "alanchi" and left their opponent with less than two big blinds. That micro-stack went into the middle of the felt on the every next hand, and "Instinctym's" ten-eight won against nine-deuce.

That concludes the 888poker XL Spring Series Main Event and the series as a whole. PokerNews cannot wait for the next 888poker festival. We bet neither can "Instinctym".

alanchi Eliminated in 2nd Place ($56,387)

We have a winner!
We have a winner!

It is game over here in the 888poker XL Spring Series Main Event because "alanchi" has crashed out in second place.

Left with less than two big blinds, "alanchi" moved all-in with the lowly {9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and found they were, unsurprisingly, behind to the {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} of "Instinctym". Matters grew worse on the {8-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{k-Clubs} flop although they picked up some out on the {j-Hearts} turn. The {7-Clubs} river was not one of them, and "alanchi" is the second-place finisher, a result that came with $56,387 thanks to the deal mentioned earlier.

Massive Hand Immediate Follows a Deal

Huge hand
Huge hand

"Instinctym" and "alanchi" have struck a deal to lessen the pay jumps, seeing how the original payouts meant a $20,000 difference between first and second-place prize money.

The deal seemed to relax both players, as you would expect, so much so that "alanchi" moved all-in with {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and "Instinctym" called with {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

"Instinctym" hit two pair on the flop and improved to a full house on the turn of the {7-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts} board, to leave "alanchi" with less than two big blinds.

iNFOsHOVE Eliminated in 3rd Place ($37,839)

Game over for iNFOsHOVE
Game over for iNFOsHOVE

"iNFOsHOVE" maged to double up a couple of time but their comeback was cut short when they got their stack in with {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} and lost to the {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} of "Instinctym."

"iNFOsHOVE" flopped a set but the five community cards fell {8-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, gifting "Instinctym" a Broadway straght.

iNFOsHOVE Decimated

"iNFOsHOVE" is on life support in this event after losing a monster-sized pot to "Instinctym."

"Instinctym" raised three big blinds with {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} and quickly called when "iNFOsHOVE" three-bet all-in for 18.5 big blinds with pocket sevens, 13.8 big blinds effective.

The five community cards fell {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and "iNFOsHOVE" is in a whole world of trouble.

Break Time

The players are on a scheduled five-minute break. There will only be three players returning after that break!

Instinctym Refuses To Discuss a Deal

"Instinctym" fancies their chances of winning this tournament judging by how they just refused to look at a potential deal.

"iNFOsHOVE" asked in the chat if their opponents were interested in looking at the numbers for a possible deal. Both "iNFOsHOVE" and "alanchi" ticked the deal-making button, but "Instinctym" typed a simple "NO."

Play continues.

Why_a_king Eliminated in 4th Place ($28,034)

Sweden's "Why_a_king" has crashed out in fourth place and walked away $28,034 richer than they were a few days ago.

"Why_a_king" got their chips in good with {a-}{k-} but it lost to the {k-}{7-} of the start-of-the-day chip leader "Instinctym."

alanchi Gets Shove Through

"iNFOsHOVE" in-raised with {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} only to fold when "alanchi" three-bet all-in for 17.5 big blinds, which slightly covered the initial raiser. It turned out to be a good fold because "alanchi" held the dominating {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.
