Day 4 Completed
After a huge day of exciting poker, the 2012 Cebu Main Event has now come to an end, with Hoang Anh Do proving too strong as he becomes the one and only champion. For that effort, Do pockets PHP 5,927,000 and all the glory to go along with it.
When the day started almost nine hours ago, there were nine players with stars in their eyes. Those stars would quickly turn to disappointment though as the players started hitting the rail one by one.
It was Antoine Amourette who started the day with only a few big blinds and while he hung on to life in dramatic fashion, eventually his day would come to an end in 9th place. He was followed out the door by Jae Kyung Sim in 8th place, before Jacky Wang hit the rail in 7th.
When Sameer Rattonsey exited in 6th place, he would leave his fellow countrymen Amit Varma to wave the flag for India. Varma started the day as the chip leader, but would slowly see his stack whittle down to a pittance of what he started the day with. Varma could no longer cling to life and would soon be sent home in 5th place.
Up until this point play was ticking along at an expected pace as Australia’s Michael Kanaan was still in contention to become only the third player ever to win both an title and an title. Unfortunately that dream would come to an in 4th place as Alistair Duff, Nicholas Wong and Do took to three-handed play.
This is when things started to slow right down. Play was reduced to a crawl as the three remaining players started trading chips. Eventually the exhilaration of the play picked up as both Do and Duff would find themselves all in at multiple times. Duff looked to be sent home at least three times, but kept clinging to life as he would keep surviving his all-in moments. After three hours of three-handed play, Duff would finally be sent home in 3rd place as we would take to heads-up play with the eventual champion holding an almost 3-1 chip lead.
Heads-Up wouldn’t last long as Do and Wong ramped up their aggression. The inevitable last hand of the night would see Do river a stronger two-pair than Wong and with that, it was all over. When the last hand was dealt, Do let out a scream of celebration and was greeted by a small rail of friends as Vietnam now has a new poker champion.

The final hand of the night has just been played out in dramatic fashion as a 2012 Cebu champion has now been crowned.
It started with Nicholas Wong limping the button. Hoang Anh Do then made it 120,000 from the big blind. Back on Wong and he would now pop it to 220,000. Do made the call and the two would take to a flop.
Flop:
On the flop, Do checked and Wong threw out 220,000. A call from Do and a would hit the turn. This card would see both players check and the would be flicked onto the felt, completing the board on the river.
Do would again check and it would be on Wong. It didn't take long for Wong to announce he was all in. It was a touch over 1,000,000 in chips to Do, with the Vietnamese player having Wong well covered.
Do tanked for around two minutes before deciding to make the call. When he announced the call, Wong turned over and got to his feet. At this point Do shouted out in enthusiasm as he turned over for a better two-pair then his opponent.
And with that, Wong goes home in a bittersweet 2nd place, while Do becomes our champion!

Nicholas Wong was on the button when he limped. Hoang Anh Do then popped it an extra 135,000 and Wong made the call. When the flop was dealt, Do moved to grab some chips and as soon as he reached for a stack, Wong flicked his cards straight into the muck.
Nicholas Wong has taken down a few small pots early to see his stack slightly increase. He's still a ways off Hoang Anh Do, but he's edging closer.

Three-handed play really seemed like it would never end. All three remaining players had almost been down and out at some point. None more than Alistair Duff though and therefore it is somewhat apt he would be the one heading home in 3rd place.
On the last hand of his tournament, Nicholas Wong opened the button to 140,000 and Duff moved all in for a bit over 400,000 in the big blind. Wong made the call and the two players turned their hands over.
Duff:
Wong:
The rail seemed to cheer for Duff as they had now become accustomed to him taking down all these clutch hands. However, not this time as a board was dealt out, sending Duff home in 3rd place for a PHP 2,086,000 score.
And with that, heads-up play has arrived.

Alistair Duff was left with only 150,000 before the following hand played out. Let us tell you, we were sure it was going to be down to heads-up play this time.
Duff was all in on the button and got calls out of both Hoang Anh Do and Nicholas Wong in the blinds.
The two live players checked it down as a board was spread across the felt. Wong turned over his and Duff tabled .
"Tell me you have a pair," said Wong to Do. But he didn't and sent his cards into the muck as Duff took down the triple up with king-high.
