After epic Days 1a through 2, finishing before 11pm feels like a very early night indeed. The Day 3 action was nothing short of furious, the field munching through itself to see 80 players paid out in under six levels.
The 24 players who will be returning for Day 4 are a very mixed bunch. After doubling up Domantas Klimciauskas right at the death, it looked as though online qualifier Simon Higgins has lost the chip lead. This means that the man in pole position as far as we can see is Eugene "FishosaurusREX" Yanayt, on roughly 2.3 million. Chip counts will be in in a jiffy for confirmation.
We lost our last two former EPT winners Ben Wilinofsky and Lucien Cohen today, meaning that we will be crowning a brand new champion this week. Four Team PokerStars Pros (Juan Maceiras, Alex Gomes, Dag Palovic and Victor Ramdin) are still in the running, as is PokerStars Sponsored Player Raemon Sluiter. Alex Gomes is of particular interest - he's going for the triple crown here after winning a WSOP bracelet in 2008 and a WPT title in 2009.
Play will resume here at the Casino Gran Madrid at noon tomorrow, and we will be playing right down to a final table. This promises to be an extremely entertaining Day 4 and we strongly urge you to join us then.

Vasily Fursov was the last player to be eliminated in the €35,000 payout bracket bringing Day 3 to an abrupt close. His pre-exit hand involved two players giving the full Dwell over his preflop mid-position raise to 43,000. Dag Palovic passed but button Alessandro Limblici (having had the clock called on him) moved all in for 212,000.
Fursov called and found his 
in big trouble against Limblici's

) offered flush possibilities but removed them with the river and he was down to <60,000.
The very next hand, in those chips went under the gun with

Having demonstrated some admirable grinding today, Erik van den Berg has demonstrated how not to win an all-in flip, getting it in preflop with

of Gerardo Godinez.
"You'll probably hit a king on the flop, then I'll river a queen...it'll be the pot of the night!" said van den Berg.
He was half right - the flop came down 
but after the turn came the river

Wow, former chip leader Ole Kristian [Removed:332] has blown up in spectacular style - the biggest pot of the tournament so far.
Eugene Yanayt opened to 32,000 in early position and [Removed:332] made it 102,000 from the button. Yanayt called, and they saw a flop.
Flop:

Turn: 
Yanayt bet out 115,000, but [Removed:332] made it 234,000 to go. Yanyat called, and they saw the river.
River: 
Yanayt checked, and [Removed:332] announced all in. After a little while, Yanayt called all in.

The all in on the river was for 800-and-something-k, the pot around 700,000 before the river. Yanayt was still stacking his ocean of chips when we left, but we're putting him at 2.3 million for the moment. [Removed:332] has been crippled to just 80,000.

Eugene Katchalov raised to 35,000 under the gun and Philippe Boucher shoved for around 140,000. Over to Juan Maceiras, who reshoved for an awful lot. Katchalov folded 
face up and the other two turned their cards over.

Flop: which would have made Katchalov a Broadway straight. Cheerfully piped up Dag Palovic, "I do not understand the people who do not play the maths. The poker news, Eugene Katchalov is such a good player." Giggling all round the table.
Turn: 
which would have made Katchalov a flush. Boucher pushed forward his , singing the bit everyone knows from Jaws.

The fun was over, and Boucher was busted. Maceiras meanwhile is up to 1.3 million.
