Day 4 Completed

EPT Berlin Day 4 Completed: Davidi Kitai Leads

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Davidi Kitai
Davidi Kitai

Ladies and gentlemen, the official Berlin final table has been set and it should be an absolute cracker when it kicks off tomorrow at 12:00 CET.

Day 4 started with 24 players and in less than five 75-minute levels they were whittled do to just eight. The man who is in pole position when play does resume is Davidi Kitai of Belgium who ended the day with a tournament leading stack of 5,695,000.

Kitai went on a real heater towards the end of the night to fly up the chips counts. First he got paid off when he held {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} on a board reading {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{K-Spades} then he was the man responsible for completing the day. He saw Jordi Riba Corrons move all in with what turned out to be {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Kitai woke up with {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. By the river the board read {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and with that the final table was set.

Kitai's nearest rival is Bahadir Kilickeser on 4,640,000 then Andrew Chen on 3,600,000. The rest of the final table is made up of Mario Puccini (2,065,000), [Removed:284] (1,940,000), Cesar Garcia Dominquez (1,485,000), Marc Wright (1,540,000) and Pratyush Buddiga (1,280,000).

The PokerNews Live Reporting team will bring you all the action from the Hyatt hotel but it will be on a 60-minute delay due to the fact the conclusion of EPT Berlin is going to be streamed, with holecards, on the internet. This stream will also be on a 60-minute delay for those of you who are interested.

Congratulations to everyone who made it to the final table and commiserations to those who did not. Until tomorrow afternoon we bid you goodnight and farewell.

Bagging and Tagging

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

With the elimination of Jordi Riba Corrons in ninth place, the remaining eight players are bagging and tagging their chips for tomorrow's final table. We'll have a recap and chip counts coming shortly. It looks like Davidi Kitai will be the chip leader.

Jordi Riba Corrons Eliminated in 9th Place (€51,000)

Jordi Riba Corrons has been sent to the rail in ninth place and our official final table is set.

The chips went flying in preflop with Corrons holding a lowly pair of fives, the {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} to be exact, and Davidi Kitai the {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. The {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{A-Spades} flop was pretty final for Corrons who was then drawing dead as the turn came down {Q-Diamonds}. The meaningless {6-Clubs} landed on the river and with that Day 4 of EPT Berlin drew to a close.

They Think It's All Over...But It Isn't!

One of the first hands of the nine-handed final table saw [Removed:284] open to 100,000 and then call when Jordi Riba Corrons shoved for 810,000. [Removed:287] showed {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} to [Removed:287]'s {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and it looked like we could all be set for a nice early finish.

But those thoughts were soon dashed as the board ran out {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Corrons doubled up.

Vladimir Geshkenbein Eliminated in 10th Place (€51,000)

Vladimir Geshkenbein - 10th Place
Vladimir Geshkenbein - 10th Place

After Davidi Kitai raised from under the gun, Vladimir Geshkenbein stuck his last 100,000 in from the button. Kitai made the cheap call and showed the {K-Spades}{10-Spades}. Geshkenbein held the {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Kitai won the pot with a pair of tens. He crippled Geshkenbein the hand before and now eliminated him in 10th place. For his finish, Geshkenbein earned €51,000. With his exit, this now guarantees we will see a brand new champion crowned.

Big Doubles for Kitai

From under the gun, Marc Wright raised to 85,000. Davidi Kitai reraised to 210,000. In the small blind, Vladimir Geshkenbein reraised to 500,000. Action folded back over to Kitai and he moved all in for 1.505 million. Geshkenbein made the call.

Geshkenbein: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Kitai: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The flop, turn and river ran out {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{A-Hearts} and Kitai's set of queens won the pot. Geshkenbein was left with just 105,000 in chips.
