Day 1 Completed
The High Roller began today and there were a number of challengers vying for the chip lead during the last level. It was Sergey Kolyasnikov who nabbed it at the very end, when he eliminated Jiayu Ruan in the closing seconds of the day. Kolyasnikov bagged 283,500 to finish in pole position going into Day 2 tomorrow, out of 79 entries.
For a while it looked like it was going to be Daniil Kiselev (256,500) who would finish on top, instead he will have to settle for second place. Right behind him are Anton Yakuba (244,500), Pete Chen (234,500) and Valery Yantsevich (196,000) who complete the top five.
With 33 players left standing at the end, there are many other big names still in the running who will be poised to challenge Kolyasnikov tomorrow. They include Team PokerStars Pro Ramon Colillas who finished on a very respectable 182,000, Leonid Bilokur (174,500), Oleg Vasylchenko (157,500), Petr Bartagov (150,500), Arseniy Karmatskiy (138,500) and Maksim Panyak (98,000) to name just a few.
There were also a number of notables that failed to make it through. Andrey Chernokoz, Viktor Kudinov, Tomas Fionn Macnamara, Anatolii Zyrin, Oleg Titov, Illia Korobkhin, Asker Aloev and Yang Wang were just some of the casualties over the ten levels of play. Some of those still have one re-entry left and with late registration open until the start of play tomorrow, they may well be back for another go then.

That's a wrap for today. Stay tuned for a full recap of the day's action.
A five has been drawn, which will be the number of hands left before tournament stops for the evening.
Denis Sapozhnikov had been short for a while and was unable to find a double in a hand against Leonid Bilokur. Bilokur, who currently sits just outside the top ten on Russia's all-time money list, has moved up to more than average stack, with 15 minutes of the day to go.

Pete Chen has been climbing up the ranks in a series of hands that for the most part have been won without showdown. The most recent hand was no exception.
It began when Chen flatted in middle position vs Andrey Kotelnikov's under the gun open. Denis Sapozhnikov called on the button and the three of them headed to the flop.
It fell all diamonds, with on show and Kotelnikov continued with a bet of 7,100. Chen called but Sapozhnikov passed, so they were heads up on the turn. It was the and Kotelnikov bet again, making it 16,000 to continue.
Chen made the call and the final card brought a one-card flush possibility with the . Kotelnikov bet a third time, a smaller sizing of 10,000. With the action back on Chen, he pumped it up to a hefty 60,000. Kotelnikov used a time bank card deciding what to do before giving up.

The flop connected for both players but it was Kalinin who had made the higher pair. The turn and river didn't turn the hand around for Amamou and he hit the rail.
