The traditional 2022 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague stop at the Hilton Prague hotel has crowned the first winner of a high-stakes competition. Brazil's Rodrigo Seiji entered the final day in Event #3: €10,200 Mystery Bounty with the most chips and eventually accumulated them all after coming out on top of a short-lived heads-up duel with Dutch poker pro Jorryt van Hoof.

With the late registration still open for the first two levels, the field was boosted by another 16 players and that brought the total field size up to 68 entries. This created a cash prize pool of €319,600 while another €340,000 were allocated for the Mystery Bounty prize pool. Seiji earned a cash prize worth €95,880 and claimed the final three bounties of the night for another €27,500.

Runner-up Van Hoof took home €62,320 in cash and pulled in two €25,000 bounties thanks to a spectacular four-way all-in. The most successful bounty hunter was, however, Steve O'Dwyer, who grabbed the two most precious bounty envelopes worth €50,000 each and claimed another two small add-ons for his bankroll despite having to settle for seventh place.

It wasn't the first time the Brazilian poker pro with merits in the online arena and live circuit alike has lifted a PokerStars spadie trophy for the winner shots. As a matter of fact, Seiji won a € 2,700 Mystery Bounty during the rescheduled 2021 EPT Prague festival earlier this year for the biggest score so far. Out of a field of 655 entries, he walked away with a cash prize of €240,655, and that payday wasn't surpassed this time.

However, the latest result will vault the Brazilian above $1 million in recorded cashes on The Hendon Mob as he continues to make strides on the international poker scene. Seiji was up against tough opposition including the High Roller regulars Daniel Dvoress, Orpen Kisacikoglu, Adrian Mateos, Anton Suarez, Juha Helppi, Juan Pardo, Pedro Marques, Jean-Noel Thorel, and Mike Watson. However, none of them earned a share of the cash and bounty prizes with the exception of Watson, who made a small profit in the event after reentering on Day 2.

The Mystery Bounty prizes came into play after the first break of the day and by then, only 21 hopefuls were still in contention. O'Dwyer seemed unstoppable for a while and also picked the golden envelope after his first knockout, as he earned a €50,000 payday. The American with Irish roots repeated the same feat soon after to lock up a six-figure payday for his efforts.

Among his victims were Marques, Thorel, Hwany Lee and Sam Greenwood. Near the cash money bubble, Mark Hammond went on a hot streak when he doubled twice to leave Greenwood short and knocked out Pablo Brito Silva. It was then O'Dwyer who claimed the bounty for eliminating Greenwood to let the cash bubble burst and reduce the field to the final nine.

However, the tides were changing soon after and the most entertaining hand of the day unleashed a four-way all-in. Van Hoof had doubled twice and then knocked out Ognyan Dimov and Emil Bise while doubling through Hammond. The Dutchman didn't redeem his only two bounties until later on and added €25,000 for each of them to his bankroll.

O'Dwyer fell from grace when he lost two hands to Jamil Wakil and had to settle for seventh place, he was followed to the payout desk by Conor Beresford and Hammond. During four-handed play, the lead changed multiple times and Seiji eventually pulled ahead of the pack while Maher Nouira went from top spot to fourth-place finisher. Wakil was the one to collect the bounty and chips but ended up second-best to Seiji when his turned trips were doomed.

Heads-up play saw Seiji with a comfortable lead and he never surrendered the top spot despite the valiant efforts of Van Hoof. Ultimately, it needed a bad beat to seal the victory when ace-ten came from behind versus ace-king.

This concludes the first five-figure buy-in of the festival at the King's Casino Prague on the ground floor of the Hilton Praguel and the next high-stakes competitions are just around the corner. The following two days will feature €25,000 Single-Day High Rollers and the PokerNews live reporting team will be back then to provide all the action.

Jorryt van Hoof Eliminated in 2nd Place (€62,320)

Level 24 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Jorryt van Hoof

Rodrigo Seiji built back his chip lead and had Jorryt van Hoof on the ropes once again. Seiji shipped all in on the button and van Hoof quickly called off his stack of 1,280,000.

Jorryt van Hoof: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Rodrigo Seiji: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Seiji was looking at an uphill battle but the flop of {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} gave him the lead with a pair of tens. The {4-Hearts} on the turn improved van Hoof's odds with a straight and flush draw but the {9-Clubs} on the river was a brick. Van Hoof was eliminated in second place but still managed to pull the last €25,000 bounty prize on his way out.

Seiji Gets a Shove Through

Level 24 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Jorryt van Hoof raised to 225,000 on the button and Rodrigo Seiji called out of the big blind. On the {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop, Seiji checked and then folded to a bet worth 250,000.

One hand later, Seiji opened to 180,000 on the button in the last hand of the level and van Hoof called. The flop brought {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and van Hoof elected to check. Seiji bet 250,000 only to get check-raised to 800,000. The Brazilian studied his opponent for a short while and pushed all-in as van Hoof got out of the way.

Back and Forth They Go

Level 23 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

In a limped pot and the flop reading {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Rodrigo Seiji tossed in a bet of 80,000 on the button. Jorryt van Hoof check-raised to 250,000 and Seiji called.

The {7-Clubs} on the turn led to a couple of checks as did the {j-Diamonds} on the river. Van Hoof turned over {6-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a pair of deuces and Seiji couldn't beat it.

On the next hand, it was another limped pot as the dealer fanned the flop of {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. Both players checked to the {3-Diamonds} on the turn and Seiji led out with a bet of 100,000. Van Hoof called and the {a-Spades} completed the board.

Seiji checked this time and van Hoof dropped in a bet of 135,000. Seiji looked him up and van Hoof tabled {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for the best hand.

Seiji Pulls Further Ahead Again

Level 23 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

In the last hand of the previous level, the two players checked the {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop. On the {8-Clubs} turn, Rodrigo Seiji bet 120,000 and Jorryt van Hoof called. Both checked the {3-Clubs} river again and Seiji won the pot with the {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}.

In the new level, Seiji limped in and van Hoof checked to the {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{10-Spades} flop on which the Dutchman check-called a min-bet of 80,000. Both checked the {7-Hearts} turn and van Hoof bet the {10-Diamonds} river for 400,000.

Seiji made the call and was good with {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, as van Hoof's {q-Hearts}{6-Spades} had bricked a straight and flush draw.

More Chips for van Hoof

Level 22 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Rodrigo Seiji raised it up to 130,000 on the button and Jorryt van Hoof called from the big blind. The dealer spread the flop of {j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and van Hoof checked to Seiji who continued with a bet of 100,000.

Van Hoof check-raised to 275,000 and Seiji called. The turn was the {j-Clubs} and van Hoof splashed in a bet of 300,000. That proved to be enough as Seiji mucked his cards, sending more chips to van Hoof.

Van Hoof Adds Some Chips in Showdown

Level 22 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

In a limped pot to the {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, Jorryt van Hoof check-called a bet of 60,000 by Rodrigo Seiji. Both checked down the {7-Spades} turn and {3-Diamonds} river as van Hoof won the pot with the {q-Spades}{3-Hearts} for a full house.

Van Hoof limped next and Seiji checked it back to the {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop. Seiji now check-called for 100,000 and both checked down the {7-Spades} turn. After the {6-Spades} river, Seiji check-called for another 275,000 and mucked upon being shown the {q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} by van Hoof.
