Day 1b Completed
Day 1b of the Golden Million Cyrpus Main Event at the Noah's Ark Deluxe Hotel and Spa attracted 82 entrants with nine advancing to Day 2. When combined with Day 1a, so far the tournament has attracted 192 entrants with 20 players advancing with three more flights to go.
Players bought in for €800 for a stack of 80,000 in chips with blinds increasing every 45 minutes. Most players opted to increase their stack to 100,000 in chips via a €40 add-on. The add-on also acted as bubble protection.
After more than 13 1/2 hours of play, Ukraine's Oleksandr Lysenko advanced from the Day 1b field with the biggest stack of 1,499,000. Lysenko is currently in third place behind Day 1a chip leader Dmitrii Vitugin with 2,158,000 and Hanouadi Del Pino who also advanced from Day 1a with a stack of 1,830,000.
Lysenko not only heads to Day 2 with a big stack but also won a Golden Poker Series Madrid package in early March 2020, which includes a buy-in to the €400 Main Event and four-nights hotel accommodation.
Other players advancing from the Day 1b field were Onur Unsal (1,318,000), Kirill Denisenko (1,045,000), Andrei Berinov (978,000), Connor Allisen (904,000), Hugo Caldeira De Brites (831,000), Surinder Sunar (513,000), Maksim Kotenok (497,000), and Alberto Diaz Rojo (480,000).
Day 1b paid out 13 players for at least a min-cash of €1,200. Ilane Benham was the odd man out as he finished in 14th place after jamming his king-nine into the ace-ten held by Diaz Rojo. Fortunately for Benham, he took advantage of the optional add-on during the late-registration period for an additional 20,000 in chips for €40 which also added as bubble protection. This meant that Benham received a payout of €840 as the add-on also doubled as bubble protection during each opening flight.
Radko Dimitrov was the last player eliminated on Day 1b. In addition to the min-cash for €1,200, he was also awarded a Golden Poker Series Marrakech package valued at approximately €1,200 for when the tour visits Morocco at the end of March 2020.
The action will resume tomorrow for Day 1c at 3 p.m. EET. Stay tuned at PokerNews for coverage of the Golden Million Cyprus Main Event.
