Looking Back At Past partypoker LIVE Events

February 2017 is the first time we saw partypoker LIVE lend its name to a tournament series. partypoker LIVE – partypoker Grand Prix Cork featured a €340 buy-in Main Event with a €100,000 guaranteed prize pool. Ireland’s Niall McAree topped a field of 426 entrants and scooped €25,000.

The following month, partypoker LIVE launched its partypoker MILLION events in Sochi, Russia. Some 1,170 players bought into the $1,100 partypoker MILLION Sochi Main Event, and Dmitry Chop outlasted them all to get his hands on the trophy and $225,000.

partypoker MILLIONS Dusk Till Dawn was the first partypoker LIVE tournament to command a £5,300 buy-in, putting it on par with other established tours such as the European Poker Tour and World Poker Tour. A field of 1,204 players bought into the £6 million guaranteed Main Event, and Maria Lampropulos came out on top to give the tour its first female champion and the first £1,000,000 top prize.

Another Season 1 highlight was the inaugural partypoker MILLIONS North America, held at the Playground Poker Club in Canada. he 1,168-strong crowd smashed the C$5 million guaranteed prize pool, and it was Jean-Pascal Savard who took the tournament down for C$956,050 after a heads-up deal.

The tour’s first Grand Final took place in Barcelona in April 2018, and saw €23 million in guaranteed prize pools, including a €10 million guaranteed €10,300 buy-in Main Event. Of course, the field was stacked with elite players. The top three finishers secured seven-figure payouts; third-placed Stephen Chidwick won €1,000,000, runner-up Adam Owen locked in €1,300,000, with champion Pascal Lefrancois netting €1,700,000.

partypoker LIVE Puts Its Name to the Caribbean Poker Party

partypoker built on a hugely successful debut season by running more than two dozen stops during Season 2.

The tour returned to Dusk Till Dawn in October 2018 and saw 1,015 players buy into the partypoker MILLIONS Dusk Till Dawn Main Event for £5,300. Ioannis Angelou-Konstas finished top of the pile and won an impressive £940,000 after a heads-up deal with American superstar Alex Foxen (£720,000).

Rob Yong and Dusk Till Dawn created the Caribbean Poker Party before partypoker LIVE existed, but it grew exponentially when the CPP became part of partypoker LIVE.

Filipe Oliveira won the 2018 Caribbean Poker Party Main Event, outlasting 1,814 opponents to bank $1,500,000. Like the inaugural Grand Final Main Event, the runner-up, Craig Mason, and third-place finisher, Marc MacDonnell, returned him with a seven-figure haul.

It was at this festival that partypoker ran a $250,000 Super High Roller. It attracted 34 entries, and Steffen Sontheimer was the last man standing. The German star saw his lifetime winnings swell by a massive $3,685,000.

Season 2 was capped off by the tour’s first trip to Brazil. The $10,300 MILLIONS South America event was the highlight of the festival. Marty Mathis won the $873,700 top prize after buying his way with credit earned from a season-long online promotion!

Tour Heads to Las Vegas and Uruguay

The partypoker LIVE tour continued spreading internationally with stops in Las Vegas and Uruguay, in addition to its staple venues in Rozvadov, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Sochi, Russia.

Tom Marchese secured the title of partypoker MILLIONS Vegas champion, and the $10,300 buy-in tournament’s $1,000,000 top prize. The final table was a star-studded affair, housing such luminaries as Rainer Kempe, Sergio Aido, Freddy Deeb, Ana Marquez, and runner-up Jeremy Ausmus.

partypoker LIVE ran the partypoker MILLIONS Europe at King’s Resort, Rozvadov, which featured a €10,300 Main Event. A heads-up deal beween two Czech players, Lukas Zaskodny and Josef Snejberg, saw the pair walk away with €906,770 and €718,230 respectively.

The tour ran another Caribbean Poker Party in November 2019, and it wa a roaring success. Adrian Mateos will look back at the $10,300 Main Event fondly, as would you if you became its champion and returned home with $1,162,805. Mateos struck a deal with Aaron Van Blarcum ($970,000), and Chris Hunichen ($1,097,195).

Uruguay was the country selected to host the partypoker MILLIONS South America festival and its $10,300 Main Event. The Main Event ended in a Brazilian one-two, with Fabio Colonese falling to his fellow countryman Pablo Brito Silva heads-up. Silva secured the latest $1,000,000 top prize of the tour.

COVID-19 Cuts Short Season 4

The COVID-19 pandemic cut the partypoker LIVE Season 4 tour short; it stopped it in its tracks. A handful of events in the Czech Republic and Russia, including the partypoker MILLIONS Sochi High Roller Series, took place, but there were no MILLIONS Main Events running.

Like most other established live poker tours, partypoker LIVE switched some of its events to the online poker world.

The partypoker LIVE MILLIONS tour returns to action in September 2021 with the MILLIONS North Cyprus festival.
