Day 1 Completed
The first day of PokerStars WCOOP-21-H: $5,200 NLHE [6-Max, Progressive KO] has come to an end after reaching the money here on level 17.
Day 1 saw 108 total entries (75 unique and 33 re-entries) just slide pass the $500K guarantee prize pool generating a total of $540,000 that would be paid out to the top 14 finishers.
When the last chance saloon had closed for business on the first day it was Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet who came out on top and is the only player out of the final 14 to eclipse the two-million chip mark.
Van Fleet found himself sitting near the top for the latter stages of the day and once he found his way to the top, he never relinquished it.
Closest behind Van Fleet on the leaderboard is Michel "FreeLancerZZ" Dattani with a chip stack of 1,901,575.
Dattani had a rollercoaster of a day but managed to bounce back at the end with a well-timed heater. The day ended on a high note for Dattani after he coolered Aliaksei "ale6ka" Boika two spots away from the money. It was then Alexandru "steakaddict." Papazian that cracked the kings of Artur "mararthur1" Martirosian to burst the bubble and conclude the action for the night.

Many notable players showed up to take a shot at a WCOOP title with many failing to find the run good needed for a Day 2 birth. Some of which included Aliaksei "ale6ka" Boika, Niklas "Lena900" Astedt, Anatoly "NL_Profit" Filatov, Dimitar "KuuL" Danchev, Conor "1_conor_b_1" Beresford, and David "dpeters17" Peters.
The remaining 14 players will all be finding a payday of at least $5,573 with the eventual champion taking down a WCOOP title, along with $53,526 in cash prizes. The eventual winner will also be retaining the own bounty, adding onto that massive payday.
Day 2 will start Sunday, September 6, at 1:05 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), and will have a live stream following all of the action.
The blinds will remain at 20 minutes in length, with all players getting a five-minute break 55 minutes past every hour. The day will not end until a winner has been crowned, taking down the title and all of that cold hard cash.
The final day of the tournament will be streamed on the PokerStars Twitch channel with cards-up coverage and commentary on a delay of at least 20 minutes. All PokerNews updates for the remainder of the event will be published according to the delay of the live stream. You can also check out the feature coverage and results of all further assorted WCOOP events right here!

Alexandru "steakaddict." Papazian:
Martirosian was ahead with his cowboys and was looking good to score the double up until the river gave Papazian trip eights to eliminate Martirosian on the money bubble.

Just before the 2018 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) got under way, we took a look at five players who were overdue a victory in poker’s premiere tournament series. There was simply no rational explanation for how come all of Niklas “Lena900” Astedt, Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson, Luke “lb6121” Schwartz, Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi and Tobias “kuhns89” Hausen had not, to that point, won a WCOOP tournament.
Two years on, only Astedt has put it right. He won the $530 PLO 6-Max in 2018 to get the monkey off his back.
Today we’re taking a look at another list of brilliant talents who have not yet won a title during WCOOP. But remember as you read the list of nearly men below that Mattsson, Schwartz, Shakerchi and Hausen are still looking for that WCOOP title too. Perhaps there’s no real shame in all of this.
Michel "FreeLancerZZ" Dattani raised to 21,400 from under the gun and was called by Aliaksei "ale6ka" Boika from the button.
The flop came , Dattani check-raised to 77,324 after Boika fired out 20,496 and was called.
The paired the board on the turn and Dattani led out for 74670. Boika called to see the complete the board on the river.
Dattani fired out 331,234 and Boika called off his last 303,400. Boika rolled over for trip queens but it was no good as Dattani held for a full house to win the hand and eliminate Boika from the tournament.
