Event #9: €1,100 NLH Mystery Bounty
Day 1 Completed
It’s the early hours of the morning here at the King’s Resort in Rosvadov, where Day 1 of Event #9: €1,100 NLH Mystery Bounty at the 2024 World Series of Poker Europe has come to a close. The 515-entrant field created a prize pool of €484,100, where the winner wil take home a top prize of €69,050.
Play came to an end in the fifteenth 40-minute level when the field had been narrowed down to 103 players, all of whom will return tomorrow at 2 p.m. local time for Day 2. Leading the chip counts is Ramana Epparla from the United States with an impressive stack of 534,500. This will prove to be very helpful in his bounty-hunting adventure getting underway from the start of play tomorrow.
The most decorated WSOP player heading to the baize for Day 2 is Shaun Deeb, who sits in sixteenth position with 241,000. The six-time bracelet winner joined the field near the start and steadily added to his stack throughout the day. Deeb has yet to taste WSOP success in Europe, so he’ll be hoping to use his wealth of poker experience to his advantage and navigate his way to bracelet number seven tomorrow.

Second place on the podium with 505,000 goes to Germany's Paco Kaplan, whilst third place is taken by Arturo Paduano of Italy with 453,000. Paduano is no stranger to bringing big stacks through to Day 2's. Just yesterday he entered the second day of Event #6: €5,000 Pot Limit Omaha with a top three stack, only to exit in one of the first few levels. Paduano is on the hunt for his first WSOP final table and will be hoping to pick up some juicy bounties along the way.
With such a large field many other familiar faces secured their seats for tomorrow, including Aaron Duczak (275,000), Ankit Ahuja (242,000), Safwane Bahri (228,000), Amir Mozaffarian (167,500), two-time bracelet winner Martin Kabrhel (165,000), Gabi Livshitz (161,500), Darius Samual (151,000), Ilija Savevski (135,000), Andrej Desset (122,000), Fabio Peluso (87,500), and Tobias Peters (49,500)
The majority of those who entered today will not be returning to go bounty hunting tomorrow. Some of the more notable players to bust included bracelet winners Kristen Foxen, Jessica Teusl, Emil Bise, Wing Po Liu, Sergiu Covrig, Anson Tsang, Alex Foxen, and the 2024 WSOP Europe Mini Main Event champion Christopher Campisano.
The mystery bounties kick in from the start of play tomorrow, with players hoping to pull one of the top prizes. The exact bounty amounts and distribution will be announced shortly after play resumes. Only 78 players will make the money with a minimum-cash of €1,365.
The blinds will resume at 1,500/3,000 and a 3,000 big blind ante with 9:01 minutes remaining of level 15. The plan for Day 2 will be to play down through the final table until an eventual champion has been crowned.

Stay tuned for a full recap of the day's action and those all-important chip counts.
Fabian Scherle got his last 37,000 into the middle from the button with May Mor making the call from the big blind to put him at risk of elimination just before the end of the day.
Fabian Scherle: A♠Q♠
May Mor: 10♠10♦
Scherle found a favorable runout of 2♥3♦9♣Q♥3♠ to win the pot, having paired his queen on the turn.

There were around 30,000 chips in the pot on a flop of J♥Q♠2♥, which four players checked around to the 8♣ turn. Robert Fluereci bet 16,500, Jakub Oliva called, then Samuel Ju & Cristian Cirja folded.
When the 8♠ dropped on the river, Fluereci checked and Oliva fired 55,000. Fluereci only had around 25,000 remaining in his stack and after a minute of thinking, he folded.

Bernd Reich min-raised from early early position and Patrick Grassmann three-bet to 18,500 from late position. After the rest of the table folded, Reich called.
Reich check-called a bet of 11,000 on the 4♥3♣3♠ flop.
Both players checked the J♥ turn for the 9♣ to fall on the river. Reich checked for the last time and Grassman fired out 28,000. Reich quickly called and Grassman showed A♠K♦ for just ace-high. Reich had 7♣7♠ for a pair of sevens to win the pot.

Paul Runcan opened to 6,000 and Gassan Azzam shoved for around 60,000, then Darius Samual made the call from the next seat. The action got back to Runcan, who only needed a second to fold his cards.
Gassan Azzam: 4♠4♣
Darius Samual: A♥A♦
Azzam needed to find a four otherwise he'd be sailing out of the tournament as he had run straight into Samual's rockets. The board ran out 5♣10♥9♦Q♥3♠, which was no help to Azzam and he was eliminated.
