$5,300 Wynn Winter Classic Main Event
Day 1a Completed
The Wynn Millions series from February 21 to March 20 is going to be one of the biggest non-World Series of Poker (WSOP) events the Las Vegas poker community has ever seen.
For the second time in less than a year, the Wynn poker room on the Strip will host a $10 million guaranteed tournament beginning March 3. But it won't be the only event during the series promised to surpass $1 million. In fact, two other tournaments during Wynn Millions will crack the seven-figure mark, and a third ($1,100 No-Limit Hold'em) guarantees at least $500,000.
That includes the return of the popular and unique Mystery Bounty, a $1,600 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament with a surprise bounty hidden inside an envelope after busting another player. Play begins February 24 and guarantees at least $1.5 million in total prize money.
In total, the Wynn Millions winter poker series features 16 events with more than $15 million in prize money to be awarded. There's a tournament for just about any type of poker player — high stakes, mid-stakes, no-limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha, bounty events, etc. And there are two seniors events for players aged 50 and above — $400 and $1,100.
The complete Wynn Millions schedule is as follows:
The 2021 Wynn Winter Classic is nearing the conclusion of its two-week 10-event series, which kicked off on December 6.
The series culminates with the $5,300 buy-in, $2,000,000 GTD Championship from December 17-20. There will be two starting flights starting with Day 1a at Noon on Friday, December 17 with Day 1b taking place at the same time on Saturday, December 18. The surviving players from each flight will then return at Noon on Sunday, December 19 for Day 2 action. It’s at that point PokerNews will pick up live updates onward to the Day 3 finale, which will play out on Monday, December 20.
Friday's Day 1a flight attracted 283 entries, which contributed $1,392,360 towards the prize pool. At the end of play, 67 players remained with Scott Drobes and his stack of 500,500 leading the way. Rounding out the top five big stacks from 1a were Barry Hutter (436,500), Isaac Baron (406,000), Brian Altman (376,500), and Ali Imsirovic (345,000).
