Day 1a Completed
It was a grueling, arduous journey through Day 1a of the€2,200 FPS High Roller at the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris festival, but 187 players finally managed to book their ticket for Day 2.
With 189 players remaining and only the top 188 finishers out of a starting field of 1,250 making the money, play went hand-for-hand. Through a combination of timely double ups and slow play, the bubble took nearly two hours before Mercedes Osti and Floyd Rosner became the last to leave Le Palais des Congres empty-handed.
Yves Bianchetti enjoyed no such fate on Day 1a. The Brazilian native knocked out a player with pocket jacks, then picked up kings for another knockout on his way to bagging up the chip lead with 855,000. He’s followed by Yunsheng Sun (839,000), Daniel Neilson (787,000), and Fabiano Kovalski (778,000). Claudio Di Giacomo knocked out former big stack Kazuhiko Yotsushika with two aces and finished with 686,000 to round out the top five.

Day 1a has now finished, with 187 players progressing to Day 2.
Full chip counts and a recap of the day's play will follow shortly.
Mercedes Osti and Floyd Rosner are the unfortunate souls on the wrong side of the money bubble in Day 1a of the FPS High Roller.
Osti was all-in and at risk versus Benjamin Chalot.
Merecedes Osti: A♣K♠
Benjamin Chalot: K♦Q♣
Osti was ahead but the runout came Q♥3♦5♥7♥9♦ and Chalot scooped the pot with a pair of queens.
Floyd Rosner was all-in and at risk versus Lars Kamphues.
Floyd Rosner: K♥K♣
Lars Kamphues: A♥K♠
Rosner looked in good shape for the double-up, but had a sweat after the Q♥10♦7♦ flop gave his opponent a straight draw.
Sure enough the J♥ rolled off on the turn to give Kamphues the nut straight and leave Rosner drawing to a chop.
However the 4♣ river was a brick and sealed Rosner's exit, meaning 187 players progress from Day 1a to Day 2.

With around 60,000 in the pot on a board of 6♦A♥J♦9♠, Stanislaw Grodek bet 32,000 from the cutoff and David Hu called in early position.
The river was the J♣ and Grodek bet another 96,000. Hu again called and Grodek showed A♣Q♣ for two pair. Hu mucked as he watched most of his stack head over to Grodek.

Stanislaw Grodek | 360,000 | |
David Hu | 35,000 |
Heads-up on a board of 3♣2♥4♠5♠, Adil Touri led out for 60,000 in the small blind and Dann Assouline called in early position.
The river was the Q♠ and Touri moved all in, first putting in a stack of 50,000. Assouline didn't notice he had said all in and went to call that amount before the table stopped him, confirming that Touri had indeed said all in.
Assouline stopped and went into the tank for more than a minute before saving his last 200,000.

Adil Touri | 560,000 | |

Alexander Ivarsson moved all in for 61,000 in the hijack and Daniel Neilson called in early position.
Alexander Ivarsson: K♣K♠
Daniel Neilson: 9♦9♣
The board ran out 5♦10♣Q♦Q♠Q♥ to give both players a full house and Ivarsson doubled up with kings full of queens to prolong the bubble for at least one more hand.

Parker Talbot had check-raised all-in for 185,000 versus a bet of 21,000 from Andrea Canelli on 7♦6♥Q♦. Canelli called to put Talbot at risk.
Parker Talbot: 7♥7♣
Andrea Canelli: 7♠6♣
Talbot was in great shape with a set of sevens versus Canelli's two pair and the J♦4♣ runout changed nothing, sending Talbot the pot.

Marco Silva was already all in as Gerald Rubiralta and Louis Linard went to the river on a board of 6♦8♣2♠10♦A♠ and 80,000 in the pot. Both players checked and awaited hands to finish on other tables.
"I told you to fold even aces. What's the payout, 4K? That could pay for the hotel, at least," tablemate Taran Parmer joked with Silva. Silva eventually turned over K♥K♦ for a pair of hours, Rubiralta mucked K♠J♥ and Linard showed 10♠9♠ as he also mucked.
