Event #19: Millionaire Maker - $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
Day 3 Completed
After a long day of intense action on the felt, 309 hopefuls were whittled down to just 34 in Event #19: Millionaire Maker - $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em, all of whom still have a chance to win the top prize of $1,344,930 and become the next poker millionaire here at the 50th annual World Series of Poker.
Leading the field is 11 time WSOP circuit ring winner Josh Reichard who boosted his chip count very late in the day on the last level of play as he played the role of Grim Reaper to three players’ tournament lives in quick succession to vault him up to 20,645,000 chips.
Closely following him are Andrew Hinrichsen (18,700,000) and Cory Albertson (15,150,000) who spent much of the day as chip leader, while Fabian Gumz (11,475,000) and Steven van Zadelhoff (10,600,000) round out the top five stacks.
Gumz gained a nice chunk to his stack shortly before dinner break in one of the more bizarre hands of the day. After being called down the entire way, Gumz fired a large bullet at the pot on the river. He got a call from his opponent, which Gumz figured was bad news as he thought his king high bluff was picked off, but it turned out his opponent had attempted a hero call with king high, but his three kicker paled in comparison to the six kicker of Gumz.
Several players fell short of their goal to advance to the next day's play. Matt Berkey, Daniel Strelitz, JC Tran and Kathy Liebert were all eliminated early in the day. Later in the day Joe McKeehen, Jeremy Wien, Longsheng Tan and Anthony Spinella succumbed as the tournament field was narrowed further.
A few other notables playing on Day 4 with the big stacks will be Spanish professional and 888 ambassador Ana Marquez, Keith Lehr, who is looking to continue his hot start to the WSOP, and fellow World Series bracelet winners Ryan Leng and Calvin Anderson.
Players will return to play on Tuesday, June 11 at 12 noon on level 32 with blinds at 100,000/200,000 with a 200,000 big blind ante. They are scheduled to play down to six players before stopping for the day.
Pokernews will provide all the action from the penultimate day at the felt with live updates, chip counts, eliminations and the big hands that will shape the course of the Millionaire Maker.
