Event 27 - $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better

Day 1 Completed

End of Day

We're now finished for the day.

The remaining 60 players will now return tomorrow from 2pm.

See you then!

Ivey's Last Minute Double-Up

Phil Ivey doubled up at the very end versus Richard Ashby with {A-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} scooping against {A-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} on a {3-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {6-Spades} {J-Spades}.

Last Few Hands...

Players are now playing just a couple more hands and then we'll be finished for the day.

After the Epic Flop...the Epic Miss...

And now, when big draws fail...

The board is {3-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} and two players are all-in. One has {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} and is up against a crushing {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {5-Spades} {9-Spades}.

The turn and river are {K-Clubs} and {K-Spades}.

Pair of fours wins the lot.

The Great American Novel - Omaha-8 Version

Pretty much got his stack back.
Pretty much got his stack back.
Take a deep breath and read on. This is why PLO8 is so wonderfully intricate and also why generally it's not spread live that often.

The flop reads {5-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {4-Clubs}. Eli Elezra checks, John Shipley bets 4,000. Andy Bloch reraises pot to 18,000 and Amnon Filippi moves all-in behind. Elezra tanks and shoves his short stack all-in.

Then Shipley ships it in behind him after a minute of dwelling.

At this point, Eli whispers to me, "If I don't get counterfeited, I get sixty..."

Eli then says to Andy Bloch, "Come on, make a good fold..."

Bloch replies, "I'm not known for my good folds..."

Bloch then calls as well. This pot is so huge that I get out an extra notepad to write more.

The order of stack sizes are Filippi, Shipley, Bloch then Elezra I think, but Bloch and Shipley are very close.

Filippi: {8-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {6-Spades} for the nut straight and a flush draw.

Shipley: {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} for the nut low with a pair and a straight draw.

Bloch: {8-Spades} {6-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {2-Clubs} for the nut straight with a low draw.

Elezra: {A-Spades} {2-Spades} {5-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} for a pair and the nut low draw.

Filippi calls for a club to completely scoop the high.

The turn is the {K-Diamonds} but the {3-Clubs} river is the best card for Filippi and gives the whole of the high to him.

So, Filippi gets the high half of all the pots, and splits one side pot against Bloch, who gets the low. The next side pot involving Shipley, Bloch and Filippi, is split between Shipley and Filippi and the low from the huge main pot is split between Elezra and Shipley.

And this all takes about 10 minutes to do.

Anyway, I hope you got all that...

Lellouche's Lucky Scoop

Antony Lellouche has doubled up after getting his stack in on a {A-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {9-Clubs} board with {A-Spades} {10-Spades} {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs} against {A-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. Statistically this was a dead heat of a hand but the turn {7-Hearts} gave Lellouche the low and the {6-Spades} on the river made him a better straight for the whole pot.

Pescatori's Stack Pirated

Max Pescatori is out, his {6-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {8-Hearts} ran into {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} and lost on a {2-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {J-Spades} {5-Hearts} board.
